In addition to having deployed a large number of troops in KIA’s 2nd Brigade area, the Burma Army (BA) has dispatched more troops to KIA’s 1st Brigade territory in Mali Nmai region. As a result, deadly clashes occur daily between the two armies.
KIA’s 4th Battalion troops and BA’s 120th Light Infantry Regiment (LIR) troops fought a battle at Mile 21 Pung Swi Yang in Sumprabum township on April 28 between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.
The previous day on April 27 at around 3 pm, fighting erupted between KIA’s 4th Battalion troops and BA troops at Mile 18 Pung Swi Yang.
In Danai township, on the same day on April 27 from 9:10 a.m – 9:40 a.m., KIA troops under 2nd Brigade fought a 10-men strong BA unit at a hill between Zup Mai village and Ut Ju Dabang.
On April 26 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in Sumprabum township, KIA’s 4th Battalion troops reportedly engaged BA troops at Mile 16 near Zup Mai Yang. In the evening at around 9:25 p.m., fighting resumed at Mile 18 near Bing Swi Yang, a frontline KLN source reported.
In Kasung village in Myitkyina township, on April 26 between 11:15 a.m. – 12:10 p.m., KIA’s 11th Battalion troops reportedly battled BA troops, the KLN has learnt.
