Alleged Mugger Arrested in Myitkyina’s Shatapru Quarter by Pat Jasan Volunteers

While conducting a drug raid in Myitkyina’s Shatapru quarter on August 31 at around 1:00 a.m., members of the Pat Jasan (PJ – A vigilante group dedicated to drug eradication in Kachin State) seized a gang member involved in beating and robbing of passerby along Japan road.

One of the five gang members was captured while the rest escaped under cover of darkness. After interrogating the captive, the PJ volunteers transferred the mugger to Myitkyina police in the middle of the night. The investigation is still ongoing regarding the identities and whereabouts of the remaining gang members, a PJ committee member told KLN.

The infamous Japan road connects Dap Kawng and Shatapru quarters where Myitkyina’s frequent violent attacks and robberies take place.
