U Yang Tu, 60-year-old villager, was shot and killed by Burmese army’s 501st Light Infantry Regiment troops on April 23 at the rice field near Man Jak village in Monkoe, northern Shan State, reported a Monkoe resident.
The resident said U Yang Tu was shot for no apparent reason. He said the soldiers just came by the rice field and shot at U Yang Tu on sight.
Similarly, another Kachin youth from Nam Jarap village, located between Theinni and Kunlong in northern Shan State, was shot by Burmese troops in Nam Jarap on April 25 at 8:30 pm, reported local sources. He was hit 2 times out of five shots. The young man was later taken to Lashio General Hospital by Nam Jarap residents after seriously wounded by the gun shots.
