A battle took place between Burmese army soldiers of 137th Light Infantry Regiment backed by local people militia led by Danggu Dang and KIA’s 7th Battalion troops at Nhka Ga village in Kachin State on Aug 28 at 2:30 pm. The two sides engaged in the battle as the joint force of Danggu Dang’s men and Burmese army troops crossed into KIA’s 7th Battalion territory in 1st Brigade area. A local source says 3 government soldiers died and KIA troops captured 1 MA assault rifle in the battle.

Burmese government has stepped up its efforts to drive a wedge between Kachin people as joint forces of Burmese army and its armed local militias launched several attacks on KIA posts in the past weeks, said a local observer.
