Battles continue to rage between Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Burma Army (BA) in western Kachin and northern Shan states.
KIA’s 6th Battalion troops and a combine force of about 100 BA troops from 13th LIR and 120th LIR engaged in a battle at Bum Chyang Bum in Hpakant township on July 16 at 2:20 pm. KIA sources said the two sides fought a series of battles since July 14 as BA troops advanced into Bum Chyang Bum and Lung Chyat area.
On July 15, KIA’s 6th Battalion troops and BA troops from 13th LIR and 120th LIR encountered at Lung Chyat Bum Htoi at around 7 am. On the same day, the two sides fought at Je Bu Hku in Kamaing township at around 6 pm. KIA sources said the two sides exchanged mortar fire near Lawng Hkang.
In northern Shan state, KIA’s 9th Battalion troops and a combine force of BA troops under 11th LID and 55th LID battled at a field between Di Ma and Nam Um in Muse township on July 16 at 9:20 am.
