10 Civilians Killed and 2 Held Hostages By Burmese Army Troops

A combined force of Burmese army’s 297th Light Infantry Battalion troops, 101st Light Infantry Division troops and troops under Hkanti-based Tactical Command reportedly killed 10 civilians and arrested two women for hostages at Nam Gawn Zup in Awng Ja village in Danai Township on Jan 29.

Local sources said Awng Ja villagers; Sumlut Gun Maw, Labang Seng Li Awng, Jawchaw Sau Ting, Jum La Ra, Nhkum Sut Ring Awng, Ko Pho Pyaung, Lagwi Dingla and three other civilians who trade local liquar were killed by Burmese army troops. Two other civilians, both women, were arrested and taken away by Burmese army troops.

On Jan 28, Burmese army troops reportedly set fire a civilian house, a shop, a butcher house, and a trader’s house and a place used for launching boats in Nam Gawn Zup in Awng Ja village.
