Skirmishes Continue in Western Kachin and Northern Shan States

Skirmishes have continued between Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Burmese Army troops in western Kachin State and northern Shan State.

Burmese army troops currently stationed at Hka Da Zup reportedly fired a 60 mm mortar round on KIA’s Hkaw Seng Bum post on Aug 4 at around 3:30 pm.

On Aug 1, KIA’s 6th Battalion troops launched an attack against Burmese army trucks traveling from Hka San and Gau Ri.

On July 31, KIA’s 14th Battalion troops reportedly ambushed Burmese army troops between Bahkyi Hkan and Nawng Lung Hka at around 9 am.

Kachin civilian force under KIA’s 6th Battalion fought Burmese army’s 298th Light Infantry Battalion troops near Shin Bum in Ka-maing Township on July 30 at 4:50 pm.

In northern Shan State, a skirmish took place between KIA’s 9th Battalion troops and Burmese army troops under 88th Light Infantry Division near Namati in Jelan village tract on Aug 9.

Kachin civilian force under KIA’s 36th Battalion troops engaged in a battle against Burmese army’s 219th Light Infantry Regiment troops at a location between Man Je and Mai Hpang on Aug 5 at around 12 pm.

On Aug 2, KIA’s 2nd Battalion troops battled Burmese army’s 363rd Light Infantry Battalion troops near Nawng Hpai village.

On July 31, KIA’s 36th Battalion troops launched an attack on Burmese army troops under 11st Light Infantry Division on the road between Kawng Hka and Mung Baw.
