Battles Continue in Western Kachin State

A series of battles continue between a combined force of KIA and its civilian units and Burmese army troops in western Kachin State.

A battle took place between KIA’s 20th Battalion troops and an unknown Burmese army unit near Hkum Tsai Yang village on June 21 at 7 am.

Ka chin civilian forces under KIA’s 11th Battalion engaged in a battle against a combined force of Burmese army’s 86th and 298th Light Infantry Battalions (LIB) under Mogaung-based 3rd Military Operations Command at Loi Li Hka and Ting Rat Hka on Lido road on June 20 at around 6:30 am.

On the same day, Kachin civilian forces under KIA’s 20th Battalion fought Burmese army’s 298th LIB troops at Kawa Pang, located between Lawa and Dum Bung, at 11:30 am.

Similarly, Kachin civilian forces fought a combined force of Burmese army troops from 86th and 297th Light Infantry Battalions on Lido road near Lawa on June 20 at around 4 pm.

Local sources reported that Burmese army’s 252nd LIB troops fired several gun shots into Sawng Hka village on June 19 at around 7 am.

A battle took place between Kachin civilian forces (MHH & MKM) and Burmese army’s 252nd Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) troops at Gala Kawng, located between Nam Sheng and Labang Kahtawng, on June 17 at 6:05 am.

On the same day on June 17, Kachin civilian forces engaged in a battle against Burmese army troops from 259th LIB at Lagat Yang, located between Man Den and Ka-maing, at around 11 am.

In southeastern Kachin State, Burmese army troops currently based at Bum Re and Hka Ya fired several rounds of MG42 machine gun on KIA’s 23rd Battalion positions in the 3rd week of June.
