A Kachin Civilian Shot By Burmese Army Troops For Wearing Kachin Flag Shirt

Burmese army troops belonging to 88th LID stationed at Mang Hang Hkyet and Loi Hkam villages shot and wounded Mr. Jangmaw Gam of Loi Hkam in Kutkai Township in northern Shan State on January 27.

Jangmaw Gam’s only crime was wearing a t-shirt bearing the Kachin national flag.

The Burmese soldiers reportedly chased him around and shot him while he was heading his way to the forest to collect bamboos, reported a KLN source.

Although there have been many similar incidents of civilians getting shot by Burmese army troops, so far no actions have been taken against the perpetrators.
