A battle took place between KIA’s 36th Battalion troops under 6th Brigade and about 150 soldiers from Burmese army’s 88th and 99th Light Infantry Divisions on the way between Nam Gat and Hpa Hpik in Muse Township on January 22 at 8:45 a.m, reported a KLN frontline source. No casualties have been reported on either side.
In Kachin State, Burmese army’s 102nd Light Infantry Battalion troops provoked KIA’s 6th Battalion troops by firing four 120 mm mortar rounds on KIA positions along Uru Hka in Hpakant Township on January 22 at 12 p.m.
Fighting erupted in Bang Htang in Mansi Township approximately at 8:00 a.m. on January 21 as an unknown Burmese army unit made advances towards areas controlled by KIA’s 12th Battalion troops under 5th Brigade. Clashes took place as Burmese army troops attempted to infiltrate through KIA’s defense lines, according to a frontline KLN source.
Similarly, the previous day on January 20 at around 2:30 p.m., Burmese army artillery units from their Bum Re Bum and Hka Ya Bum bases in Laiza Township reportedly fired seven 81 mm rounds towards KIA’s Udang Hkyet and Chyahkya Tu outposts manned by its 23rd Battalion troops under 5th Brigade.
