Burmese Army Fighter Jets and Attack Helicopters Conducted Aerial Assaults Against KIA and TNLA Troops

A frontline KLN source reported that since January 14 morning clashes erupted between Burmese army troops and KIA’s 12th Battalion troops under 3rd Brigade in areas surrounding Loi Hkam School hill in southeastern Kachin State. Following the ground assaults, a pair of Burmese fighter jets conducted air raids against the defending KIA troops at around 2:10 p.m.

On January 13 at around 4:30 p.m., clashes were reported as KIA’s 12 Battalion troops engaged Burmese army combined forces from 13th and 83rd Light Infantry Battalions(LIB) under 88th Light Infantry Regiment on Loi Hkam School hill. On the same day in the afternoon, a pair of Burmese fighter jets reportedly carried out two aerial assaults on KIA 12th Battalion’s Man Gau Base.

Similarly, fighting erupted at around 5:45 p.m. between KIA and Burmese army troops at U Lang Hkyet between Loi Hkam and Bang Htan, a frontline source reported.

Meanwhile in northern Shan State on January 13 at around 12:00 p.m., two Burmese Mi-35 military helicopters reportedly attacked TNLA’s Taw Maw outpost across Mung Lung. In the evening at around 9:30 p.m., Burmese troops from 130th LIB based at Man Dung  launched an offensive against TNLA troops, according to a frontline source.
