A Woman Struck by Bullet in Mung Ji Man Bung Village

On January 10 beginning at 6:10 p.m. in northern Shan State, fighting broke out between Burmese army troops from 99th Light Infantry Regiment based at Mung Ji Police Station and KIA troops belonging to 2nd Battalion under 6th Brigade. In retaliation, Burmese army troops began recklessly firing towards Mung Ji Man Bung village, and as a result, a bullet struck one of Mrs. Lamung Roi Ji’s hands while another shattered her left knee. The KLN has learned that the injured woman is currently being treated at Kutkai hospital.

Meanwhile on January 11 between 4:50 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., Burmese army troops based at Kutkai Byuhar Loi Seng Kawng fired more than 10 heavy mortar rounds towards Man Mau and Man Pin, areas controlled by KIA’s 8th Battalion troops under 4th Brigade, according to the KLN frontline source.
