Burmese Fighter Jets Continue Strikes on KIA’s 3rd Battalion Frontline Outposts

On January 8 between 9:55 a.m. – 4:13 p.m. in Kachin State, two fighter jets coming from Myitkyina reportedly carried out 8 aerial assaults on KIA positions along Hpaw Daw, Law Hpyu and Tang Lai fended by its 3rd Battalion troops under 5th Brigade. On the same day between 9:40 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., more than 300 rounds of heavy artillery shells were fired towards KIA outposts in Hpaw Daw, Sama Krung and Nga Gyang Bum by Burmese army troops based at Point 1103, Lai Hpawng and Dabak, a frontline source reported.

Similarly, Burmese army troops based at Hka Da Zup reportedly fired eight 60 mm mortar rounds towards KIA’s Lamung Tu Jamaw outpost manned by its 14th Battalion troops under 2nd Brigade at around 10:00 in the morning.

Burmese army troops belonging to 88th Regiment advancing from Bang Yang Hka were reportedly ambushed by  KIA’s tactical commandos near Nam Lim bridge en route to Na Le Sam village in its 6th Brigade area at around 12:00 p.m., according to a frontline source.

Meanwhile at Na Noi in northern Shan State, KIA troops from 9th Battalion under 4th Brigade reportedly engaged Burmese army troops at around 8:18 a.m., the KLN has learned.
