Over 90 Mortar Shells Fired at KIA Frontline Posts From Burmese Military Camps

A frontline KIA source reported Burmese army troops based in Kagam and Nhkram fired 87 rounds of 60 mm, 82 mm and 120 mm mortars at KIA’s Gidon post manned by 252nd Mobile Battalion approximately at 4:40 p.m. on December 9.

Burmese army troops active along the main road in Sama village also reportedly fired five 120 mm rounds at KIA positions in Sagya Hka. On the same day, Burmese military helicopters were seen hovering over Gidon and Kagam Bum at  10:05 a.m. and 11:00 a.m respectively, the source said.

On December 9 around 5:00 p.m., mobilized Burmese army troops at Gara Yang and Katsu villages split into three columns and began marching towards Sam Pai, Dabak Hka and Naw Gu.

That same day in northern Shan State at around 5:00 p.m. in Loimawk in Je Lan area, fighting broke out between Burmese army troops from 33rd Light Infantry Regiment and KIA’s 9th Battalion troops under 4th Brigade.
