Burmese army troops stationed at Kagam and Nhkram reportedly fired 38 rounds of 82 mm and 120 mm mortar shells at KIA posts manned by 252th Mobile Battalion troops on December 5 between 12:20 p.m. – 12:40 p.m. Around 1:35 p.m., Burmese army troops secretly approaching Gidon post stepped on a KIA mine, they then fired an RPG towards the KIA position but retreated after KIA troops retaliated by firing back a few mortar rounds.
Burmese army troops stationed at Hka Ya Hkyet fired one 81 mm mortar round towards KIA’s 42nd battalion’s position at around 10 a.m.
In southern Kachin State, Burmese army troops from 521st Light Infantry Regiment stationed at Shing Teng, fired four 60 mm mortar rounds towards KIA’s 27th battalion’s position under 3rd Brigade in Nam Maw Pa village in Mansi Township on December 5 at 4:30 p.m.
In northern Shan State, clashes were reported between Northern Allied troops and Burmese troops active along at the foot of Mongkoe hill in Quarter 6 on December 5 around 2 p.m. On the same day around 12:15 p.m., Burmese troops fired six rounds of 105 mm and some shells landed on Man Pyin village and a Chinese village across the border.
Burmese troops torched civilians’ homes and rice barns in Hpau Jung Pa district in Mongkoe beginning early Monday morning, a local source reported. The source said Burmese soldiers are ransacking homes and pillaging civilian properties in Mungkoe and Pangsai as local residents fled to Chinese side of the border.
More Burmese army troops from 11st and 88th Light Infantry Division have been transported by air and land to Mungkoe and Pangsai area. Local sources reported daily transportation of troops and ammunition from Lashio to Muse.
