Battles Rage in Northern Shan State

A battle took place between KIA’s 38th Battalion troops and a combined force of Burmese army’s 313rd and 416th Light Infantry Regiments near Bang Sai village in northern Shan State on April 12 at 2:30 pm.

Another battle took place between the two sides near Hpawng Seng village at around 5 pm. No casualties had been reported from either side.

KIA sources said Burmese army troops currently based at Mung Yu (105 mile) fired several artillery rounds on KIA’s 36th Battalion positions near Lung Hkang junction in Muse Township on April 11. The two sides subsequently engaged in a firefight in the afternoon, said KIA source.

In Kokang area, MNDAA troops fought a combined force of Burmese army’s 44th and 66th Light Infantry Divisions (LIDs) troops at Ta Kan Htang on April 13. Local sources say Burmese army troops seized a MNDAA’s frontline post.

Burmese army troops continued offensives on MNDAA’s 311st Battalion positions in Ma Li Lin area on April 14. Kokang sources say artillery shells fired by Burmese troops fell on motor road in Chinese side of the border near Ma Li Lin.

TNLA source said its 717th Battalion, 434th Battalion and 987th Battalion troops battled Burmese army’s 77th LID troops in Mogoke, Naung Cho, Nam San and Kyauk Me Townships in last week.
