Villagers Held Hostage, Homes Ransacked in Maw Han Village

A local source said Burmese army troops ransacked homes, seized valuables, arrested and interrogated villagers in Maw Han village, located between Kut Kai and Ta Monye, in northern Shan State on Feb 4.

Dawshi La, 30-year-old villager, was beaten by Burmese army soldiers until his teeth were knocked out, said the source. Another source said ten villagers have been arrested and held by Burmese army soldiers as hostages and used as human shields. KLN was unable to confirm the identities of 10 hostages.
