Burmese Soldiers Raped and Killed Two KBC Teachers

Burmese army soldiers raped and killed two volunteer teachers for Literature mission by Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) at Shabuk Kawnghka village in Muse Township, northern Shan State on Jan 19.

A local Baptist minister said the Burmese army soldiers are from 202nd and 203rd Light Infantry Battalions. Another source told KLN that the Burmese army soldiers who committed this despicable act are from 503rd Light Infantry Regiment, led by Maj. Aung Soe Myint, under Kyaukme-based 1st Military Operations Command.

The two teachers, Maran (20) and Tangbau (21) (first names withheld), are from Waimaw and Myitkyina. The two teachers are currently working for Kachin Baptist Convention’s Literature Mission Project for 2014-15.

Villagers found the two naked bodies with marks that show the two teachers were beaten to death after being raped.

A villager said when they arrive near the murder scene, Burmese soldiers stood about a furlong away from the two naked bodies as if they didn’t do anything.
