Fighting Resumes in Kachin As Summit Concluded

A battle took place between KIA’s 27th Battalion troops and Burmese army’s 317th Light Infantry Regiment (LIR) troops near Namsa village in southern Kachin State on Sunday at 12:30 pm. Namsa village is located between Balawng Dingsa and Maji Kung Kaji in Mansi Township. No casualties on either side have been reported.

Local sources in northern Shan State said Burmese army units under 88th Light Infantry Division (LID) and 11st Light Infantry Division (LID) have encroached into Mungsi area.

A KIA officer, who declined to be named, said they will again hear the sound of gunfires after the ASEAN Summit as more Burmese army troops from 11st, 77th and 88th LIDs carrying artillery and ammunition entered into area controlled by Kachin and Palaung forces.
