Myitung Brang Nan, a 16-year-old Internally Displace Person (IDP), was killed by Burmese government troops near Loi Ngam village in Kutkai Township on July 28 at 1 pm. Brang Nan is from Ga Leng IDP camp located about 40 minutes from where he was killed.

Local sources say Burmese government troops who shot Brang Nan are from 241st Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) and 522nd Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) under 99th Light Infantry Division.

IDPs from Ga Leng camp said Brang Nan and his two friends, Myitung Yaw (aged 19) and Pausa Brang (aged 21), were working in a maize field near Loi Ngam village when he was indiscriminately shot by Burmese army soldiers.

The same units under 99th LID on Tuesday captured Myitung Naw Yawng, another 67-year-old IDP from Ga Leng camp, and forced him to serve as a porter, said a local source.
